I think you are not having arthritis because it affects big joint first like knee, hip joint etc. In my opinion you should get your blood uric acid levels. If it is high than you are suffering from Gout. It always starts from toe of the foot. Please not & never eat red meat for your sake.

Since both of your big Toes are in pain you definately have something going on. Typically arthritis doesn't pick and choose which joints to cause pain. Are you experiencing other related pains elsewhere? Have you recently purchased a new pair of shoes? Some shoes are designed for those who have arched foot support, Other shoes are designed for those who are flat footed. Flat footed people tend to have major heal pain later in years. Those with arched feet, typically don't have problems unless they are wearing shoes designed for heal support. Do you play sports? There's turf toe but that's unlikely since both are hurting. Did both toes start hurting approximately at the same time? Just so you know popping your knuckles and toes has been medically proven it doesn't cause arthritus. Another possibility is that you have an infection. I know Toes are often affected with certain infections. Have you felt sick? I would see a doctor if this pain continues. Good luck. Any background info would be usefull in getting to the bottom of this.
