why do i have a lot of dry snot?

why when i wake up in the mornings do i have a lot of dry snot up my nose, sometimes its very hard to breath through my nose and i have to (excuse me for being disgusting) pick it out cos it wont come out with blowing on a hankie?

oh well, gives you something to do! have you tried vacuuming your mattress - could be lots of dust and stuff in your bed irritating your nose during the night!!!
