Anyone who went to boot camp can type for days about what the mind games were. A question with a shorter answer would be "What aren't the Drill Instructors' mind games?"

I believe the example that you gave would be a light mind game indeed. I think the biggest ones are the ones they know personally hurt you. They get to know you and your personality and what things get under your skin through trial and error. Understand that drill instructors want to put you through simular circumstances to war or a POW camp. If you are unable to handle the stress of battle, you will fold under pressure.
Also understand that there will be changes with your boyfriend once he comes back. He may be more serious and his demeaner may be different. Boot camp is in essence brain washing. Changing a person to be able to kill the enemy. When I would run in the Marines, we would chant things that would make civilians cringe. Chant KILL on each left foot. Memorize things that have to do with killing. From the Marine Corps Creed, "Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than the enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will. My rifle and I know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit."
Be aware that a change will occur with him and I think it will prepare you for his return.

well I can say in common of all gunny's aka Drill instructor, they break you down emotionally. you are forced to fight back against your gunny internally. This gives the trainees boost of morale against them. The gunny will keep doing that till your out of camp. They will break your emotions down and you are going to get angry and pissed and you will force your anger to work even harder. The drill instructor becomes negative on you all the time, in order to build up your courage and strength when you head to battle.
