Ever since school started in the fall, my son's life has got really tough. His mixed martial arts gym closed down right after his first fight. He was kicked off the wrestling team for not getting along with the new coach. He used to have GPA of 3.5 or so, but his grade dropped down to around 2.0 GPA. Also we have been having a lot of conflicts lately about his college. He wanted to studies photography and fashion design or arts. We doesn't want him to waste his intelligent on those field or spend our moneys on field with low career avability. I know he took this to heart.

Today when I went in to wake my son up, I found a note on bed. He say he has left to travel the world. I and my husband went to the airport but cannot find him. We talked to lot of people we know, none of them have seen him. He doesn't have very many friends outside of the martial arts gym so we're sure he has went oversea. We're also suspicous he must have forged a passport since he's only 16.

I want to call police, but my husband say if we do, it could make situtation worse. We're also not sure if it's even possible to find him especially if he actually went oversea.

I know he use to have around 3,000 in his bank account, when I checked it today, it was down to 1,900. So I and my husband believe he must have flew out or something.

My husband say it's likely he'll get scared and come back, but I'm kinda worry that he'll not want to come back.

Is my husband right about him getting scared and come back? Or could he be wrong?

Contact the bank & find out when the money in his account was withdrawn. That will give you a timeline of when this plan began. Also, it takes time to get a passport now so if he did get one, it took time & planning.

Contact the airlines & find out how many international flights went out today or when you think he left. If you explain the situation they may be able to assist in a passenger list.

Call his friends parents. They may have some info.

Call the police! The potential danger of him running away could be very severe, especially if he did run overseas.

Also contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. They can help too.

how dare Alyssa get her answer posted, I apologize for another human beings thoughtlessness!!! He is 16, a MINOR, call the airport security office and tell them what is going on....He has to show picture ID to board any plane, and like the others said a passport......If he manages to get somewhere where the laws won't be in his favor, and you know what I mean, he could end up in far worse trouble than the cops getting involved!! If you know any of his martial arts friends, call them, immediately!! Call the police,NOW, they can get info from the airport if you can't, do not wait, the first 24 hrs. are crucial.....call the cops!!!!!!!!! Hope you find him and he is ok!!!!!!

Oh dear.

Call the police. It won't make the situation worse, it might help him. He is sixteen, who knows what kind of trouble he could be getting into. I mean, seroiusly think about it. What if he changed his mind and someone snatched him? What if he gets involved in something over his head?? Kids who run away typically have bad things happen.

Your the parents. You always will be. For now, he is your legal and ethical responsibility. Find him. Bring him home...tell him when he is eighteen in his summer before college, then he can go explore the world and you will support that...but his way of doing it right now is irresponsible, immature, and dangerous.
