I'm not a fan myself, but I don't think they are a bad thing. It's a way for individuals to express themselves. I do have two tattoos though. It annoys me to hear people complain about others with lots of piercing or tattoos. If they don't like them, then they can just look away.

I absolutely LOVE body piercings!! I have 8 at the moment (7 in ears, nose ring). Once I get the money I plan on getting many more done, my next one is going to be a vertical bridge then several eyebrow rings and corset piercings on my arms. I love the feeling of the needle going through and the joy of looking at my new piercings. Yes you can get an infection, but you can get an infection from a splinter. Its nothing special ha. I have an extreme pet peeve with people who tell me that they had their piercing done in their friend's basement with a safety pin and then complain about it getting infected!!! I'll spare you the rant.

I think there is nothing wrong with body piercing, but sometimes it gets out of hand. Some girls at school have their hips pierced. I have 13 piercings and I'm 14 so I'm not being hypocritical. Sometimes it just plain nasty were people get it pierced. I wouldn't Peirce my hip or cheek. I have my nose, the top and bottom of my bellybutton, and the rest of the peircings are on my ears.

For the tounge they can hit a vein and it can mess your body up big time. I used to have my tounge pierced and my rook, my rook riped out. They can rip out or get infected, but its not like you can die because of the blood. I think body peircings look good on some people. I guess its the way you present yourself. You can have someone with their eyebrow pierced and it would look great, and then you can have another person with it done, and it looks bad. Get what im sayin?

I have my tongue pierced with a small ball and it does not affect my speech whatsoever. i've had it for over 6 years. No problems, no cracked teeth or anything.
I don't think piercings are bad but of course they are up to everyone individually. Just know that unfortunately you are judged by these things in the public eye - and it might be more difficult to find a job with facial piercings. - I think to each their own.. I personally would have a few more but I cannot have them due to my job in law enforcement.

I have had both my nipples pierced and the skin underneath my bellybutton surface pierced. I love them. If you take proper care of them and dont abuse them they should be fine. Also people that dont have piercings just dont seem to understand, that we realize that there could be risks involved. I think they also hate the idea that we can cope with pain. Some may just not like the look of them, which is fine if they keep there mouths shut about the rest of it. There is a really good saying
" I dont mind eople with closed minds as long as they keep there mouths closed too" or something like that.

Actually, your tongue, if pierced, could swell to the point of obstructing your airway. And it gets infected easily, from food getting caught.
You asked, here's MY opinion:
Facial piercings are gross, and tongue piercing causes a slight but perceptible speech impediment. As a business owner, if I have 2 equally qualified applicants for a job opening, I will choose the one WITHOUT the permanent optional disfugurement.
Tattooed & pierced people want to express their "social dis-satisfaction" or "individuality", but then get mad when rejected by mainstream jobs!
You can't have it both ways!

I don't understand it is all.
I just can not imagine sitting and letting someone put a needle into my tongue, eyebrow, nose, cheek, lip, chin, chest, or below the belt, I mean, why????
I have seen several theories, including that the person with the piercings secretly desires to be considered as someone 'brave'
'daring' , and has a need to be noticed due to lack of self esteem. They crave the attention from others, and use this form of self mutilation to do so- when basically they do not even like themselves.
