I have two Yorkies and I am a cronic asthmatic. Yorkies do not have a double coat like most breeds of dogs that continually shed all year round. A Yorkies coat is like human hair (that is why it is softer and silky in texture), and when it does come out, it does so in clumps and is easy to pick up. It also does not contain the same amount of alligens (the things that make people sneeze) that a normal dog coat does.
Yorkies DO NOT CAUSE ALLERGIES.

Any dog can cause allergic reactions in people. Yorkies have very fine hair (more like human hair than dog hair) but they still have some dander, which is what most people react to. They need to be brushed daily to keep from getting tangled and this keeps some of the allergens down.

for ones yorkies do shed. only it has to be brushed out of the coat. there are only two dogs that do not shed are Chinese Chrested and the other on is a hairless dog that lives in Mexico. the rest of the answer are right about allergies.

Sorry Kate but no Yorkies do not have human hair. And yes you can be allergic to them. There is no such thing as hypo allergenic dogs. Sorry but you need to think about your own health and need to re home this dog.

yorkies don't shed, but all animals, and people for that matter, have dander, which are dead skin cells. that's usually what causes those kind of allegeries

i have a yorkipoo i try and brush her everyday and she doesnt shed i often react to allergens but since i have had her i have not reacted to any at all i found the best dog for me hopefully you will get one too and see that they are the best ever good luck honey
