Don`t add anything. Microwave for a little bit, then stir and microwave again, and stir...just like you would do with Chocolate Chips...

You can't really melt cream cheese, but you can soften it. Opening the package and leaving it out for a half hour should soften it up well. Putting it in the microwave will do something to the consistency and make it warm. It might not work well in your recipe. It could possibly cook the other ingredients you're mixing it with.

Using a microwave-safe regular glass cereal bowl: melt cream cheese in microwave for 30 seconds. (for every 2 oz)
slow and easy, stirring every 30 seconds if more then 2 oz.

You can melt cream cheese in the microwave but you might want to take the aluminum wrapper off. 10 to 15 seconds max

What I do is leave the cream cheese out for a while, it shouldn't take long to be able to work with it.
Otherwise,in a bowl try working it with a spoon over and over. It shouldn't take long before you can do what you need to do to it.

Cut it in smaller chunks (smaller than the brick size it came in anyways). Space them out a bit. Zap them at somewhere around 75% power for 30 sec. Check them and stir if needed. Continue zapping at 10 sec intervals until done.

Yes, be sure to unwrap it and just nuke it for 30 seconds on medium - then test it to see if it is soft enough - keep trying 20-30 seconds at a time til soft enough
