The ruffles are so expensive, but they are fat free. So whats the deal? They are tastey, I love to scoop up cottage cheese with them and have a hamburger and chips. What is with the Olestra. Is it really fat free?

you can eat a hamburger on weight watchers as long as it doesnt weigh 1 lb. I used to eat chips and burgers all of the time instead of french fries.
Yep! They sell the Ruffles Low fat (made with Olestra) in the supermarket for about $3.99 for a medium size bag. They have 0 fat grams, are in a blue bag and are tastey. I eat them about 1 or 2 times a month and never have problems with diarrhea.

I like bbq chips on braunsweiger and cheese sandwiches. Make sandwich, put chips in the middle, flatten sandwich so the chips are smushed. Mmmm Potato facts: A potato is about 80% water and 20% solid. Potato chips are the number one snack food in the world. Because the potato was unknown to them, Europeans initially considered potatoes poisonous or evil due to their similarities to the nightshade family. Some members of the nightshade family include Mandrake and Belladonna, which are used for medicinal purposes. Germany's King Frederick William realized that potatoes were a good food source and ordered peasants to plant and eat potatoes or their noses would be cut off. Potatoes were the first vegetable grown in space in 1995.

Yes, they really are fat-free but not the best wholesome food choice. They do, however, fill a need for some people.

Olestra can cause the runs in some people while others have no problem with it. What I would do if you're that interested is to purchase them and just try a small quantity. You could be one of the lucky people who are not affected. I'm one of them and have no trouble with sugar alcohols either.

Happy eating!

It is, but it goes through your system so fast, it causes diarrhea and in some people, allergic reactions that cause cramping, stomach pain, severe diarrhea, etc, sometimes sending them to the hospital. So, no....I haven't tried the chips. They aren't worth the suffering they could cause. Instead, I go to the healthfood aisle and buy the low-fat and/or low salt chips there, made with oils that are not bad for you. They are OK to eat--not fat free, maybe, but a little fat in your diet is ok. And they don't have any ingredients to leave you spending the night in the bathroom.

Actually on the bag itself you will see a warning that says "may result in anal leakage."

Now I dont' know about you but that kind of kills my appetite. You're better off eating real chips but a small portion than eating this unnatural garbage.

Try Kettle Chips - they're all natural, really tasty, and just limit how many you eat.

Otherwise, you're looking at a nasty case of the squirts!!!

Why would you buy fat-free potato chips and pound them down with cottage cheese and hamburgers.Do you wash that mess down with diet cola?Wake up and smell the bacon.

The idea is that your intestines cannot absorb the fat in them, but it still gives the desired taste and food effect. However if your gut can't absorb it, where do you think it will go.
