yes. some states will provide you with a "personal assistant" if you are in need of a helper. other ideas? change location to a city that is more accessible??? contact "Independence inc." in lawrence, kansas. they specialize in questions like yours and the people there will be able to relate fully to your problem because they share similar difficulties. (i used to be employed as a "personal care assistant" in kansas) you may contact me if you like.

Check your local social services agencies, and your bus company. Sometimes social services agencies have transportation available, or activities for physically challenged people. Also, sometimes local bus services have a fleet of vans that gives rides to the physically challenged. By "in a land other than your own" does that mean you are from another country? If so, read the local Sunday paper or free fliers and see if there are any gatherings for your ethnic group or fellow countrymen. Larger cities have ethnic or multi-ethnic festivals. Call the organizer, explain your situation, and see if anyone can take you to the event. Maybe there you can meet some friends who will visit you occasionally.

You sound depressed. Talk to your children and tell them the whole situation. I'm sure they will take care of it. Good luck!!!
