There is almost no chance of your developing a dry socket with immediate dentures, unless you take them out before you are suppose to. They work like a band aid keeping the wounds covered nice and tightly while they form clots and start the healing process. It's the best way to get dentures. Shame it took so many years for them to figure how to make them ahead of time. Actually you can use a straw to drink with, just still avoid the carbonated drinks and no real thick shakes. You would have a hard time breaking a clot loose under the denture. I've had patients say the ice cream and smoothies work great to help ease the discomfort. Hope I was of some help! Good luck!

MAIRZEEDO,
HAVING THE EXTRACTION SOCKETS COVERED BY THE IMMEDIATE DENTURES WILL MAKE THEM LESSLIKELYTP BEVELOP INTO DRY SOCKETS. IT'S IPORTANT NOT TO REMOVE THE IMMEDIATE DENTURES THE FIRST 24 hrs AFTER THE SURGERY. YOU MAY GENTLY SWISH WITH WARM SALT WATER FOR A DAYS AFTER THE EXTRACTIONS.
