If its straightened as in ironed, why don't you just wash your hair?
Then you can start with the natural texture of your hair.
If you mean permantently straightened find two or more curling irons with different sized barrels and curl your hair alternating the irons and direction.
Finger brush out your hair to get an amazing spiral.
If you want a tighter curl, wet your hair down, put mousse in it and scrunch your hair and dry for awhile then start wrapping sections around your finger and blowdrying.

Since you suffer some friz when you dry naturally your hair sounds a bit like mine. First you need a blow dryer. Use that to dry the hair putting in some moistriser for shine and to combat frizz. The get an electrical hot curler. That will take a very short time to heat up in your home. Make sure that you do not roll the curler to close to the scalp though. They usuall cost about $4.00.

Listen carefully ! Wet your hair then put some gell in it and turn your head up side down and scrunch it ~ let it dry or use a diffuser then curl some extra pieces with a curling iron ! Put into a half clip with two rinfs hainging down.

wash it with Thermasilk conditioner and shampoo in hot water, and blow dry cool until hair is only HALF dried. If you have a curling iron, then curl the tips of your hair. Your hair will naturally dry in that time, and you will have soft, glowing delicate curls from the top of your neck to the tips of your hair.

you should curl it from the middle down. it looks really cute. then put it up in a half ponytail. i do it a lot with my curling iron. You can also take mousse and scrunch it which always looks good but its sometimes kind of stiff

You can tong it to create curls or wash and set on rollers. If you are worried about damaging your hair, then do a deep conditioning treatment first.
