OK , I took 36divided by 9 = 4 rows 1 inch wide, then I took 4 x 13 = 52. the I took 52 divided by 36 = 1.444 inches so cut your brownies 1 inch wide and 1 and 7/16 long. Hope this helps.

If you need to be exact you take 9 times 13 which equals 117 then divide 117 by 36 which equals 3.25 square inches. I hope that this helps. Or you can cut 36 bars and if you have any extra just eat it or throw it out!!

You'd need to make 9 rows by 4 rows - which means 3 cuts down the long end by 8 cuts across the short end.

My grandma has a grid template for every pan, she marks the edges then uses a ruler. We all make fun of her but it works.
Be sure to score it before you acctually cut it so you can fix any mistakes.
make it 8 squares by 5
along the 13in side, 5 along the 9in side
it'll be pretty close to squares and you'll have 40 squares. (9x4 would be 36)

5 cuts going horizontal
5 cuts going vertical
with give you 36 pieces
these will not be square pieces but the pieces will all be the same size
(6 cuts by 6 cuts will give you 42 pieces
9 cuts by 4 will give you 50 pieces)

do NOT cut 6 across and 6 down like someone suggested, because it is not a square, so some brownies would be smaller than others.
