Your Memorial day weekend is usually our Victoria Day weekend, but this year yours is a week later. You should get your insurance before you leave the states (maybe from AAA) or similar.
The end of May can be quite cold here, or hot as H E double hockey sticks.
Lots to see and do in Toronto, but pricey, It is about an hours drive from here (Kitchener).
As far as customs, they are about the same as yours in the states, and rules about the same. No weapons or firearms, and Ontario has a No Smoking law in effect for restaurants, malls and inside public places.
Enjoy your trip!

Our health care is a lot less expensive than in the US, but you still don't want to have a hospital bill spoil your holiday. If you don't buy travel hospital/medical coverage before you leave, contact an insurance broker as soon as you get to Canada, and ask about a visitor plan. A company called Travel Underwriters offers a plan through brokers across Canada. We aren't a lot different from Americans. If you are going to Toronto, do a bit of research on these sites.

Remember that radar detectors are not allowed in Ontario province, speed limits are strictly enforced (especially if you are driving with an USA registration plates), road distances and maximum speed is posted in kilometers. Also gasoline is sold by liters not gallons and temperature is expressed in Celsius not Fahrenheit degrees.
Most of the customs are exactly the same as those in the USA.
You can buy travel insurance before leaving for your trip. Check any search engine by typing "travel insurance".
Enjoy beautifully diverse Canada.

Most of the laws are similar to the ones you'd find in the USA. For health insurance, talk to your local travel agent.
