I am taking Tegratol, wellbutrin, cymbalta and Topamax.
It is alot of meds, but you need to understand, I have been diagnosed for over 20 yrs. It took me a long time to get stable (over 10 yrs.)Now I am on 2 mood stabilizers ( tegratol and Topamax) the other two are antidepressants.Tegratol and cymbalta are the best.
It is very frustrating. I have been suicidal and in the hospital 3 times. Life has been very hard. But I just kept telling myself, I will not live like this, and I kept insisting I got good Dr. care.
You are the most important. Knowledge is power, take control of your care.
I know I answered your last question, but you are so important to me, and that you get help, because I have been where you are.
Also the question about hearing and seeing things. There are other bipolars who do the same, there are meds for that. But those symtpoms could also improve as your bipolar symptoms improve. You need to tell your Dr. about them. If you have a Dr. that you feel isn't listening to you, you need to get a new one.

Remember that with each new medicine, it takes about 2 weeks to see a slight improvement, and 6 weeks for any remarkable change. The best one that I have taken is Depakote ER... the extended release formula. I had severe manic episodes and that was the only thing that helped those, however, I did find myself getting more depressed, so then I needed a very low dose of prozac along with it.

Keep a symptom diary with each new medicine. Write the name of the med, time of day taken, mood, and any physical symptoms and then show it to your doctor the next time you see him/her. This will help your doctor see if there is a pattern and if a different med could could be added or one taken away to counterbalance any problem in medications or dosages.
