Lobster is prettier than crab or so people think. They have larger front claws that contain much larger pieces of meat. Other than the claws, the only edible meat on a lobster is in the tail. Some of the inner organs are edible, but I've never gone that far. Canadian snow crab has much much better flavor than lobster. Butter is a waste of time. Inhumane deaths? You probably eat chicken, right? What about beef, fish, or anything else that is meat? They were all killed somewhere along the line. Human beings were meant to eat meat. Our bodies can't function 100% properly without meat, even though you can some somewhat close with other protein sources and supplements.

Actually, their deaths are quite humane these days. I lived in a lobster fishing town for 17 years and my partner had an amateur fishing license that entitled him to have 2 lobster pots. Although I too, think the lobster is slightly over-rated, they are at their best when fresh, sliced and placed between two pieces of buttered bread. Mouth watering. There are different species and the ones I am referring to are the Western Reds or Southern Fighters - caught off the coast of central and south west Australia. They are exported live to Japan and as far as I can remember to the U.S. as well.

Basically so is shrimp and crab. But they're all tasty. You must have had bad lobster if you don't think it's sweet and succulent and need all that butter. Also, there is some discrepency as to whether lobsters really "scream". Some views say that it's just steam escaping, and when boiled properly it puts them to sleep first and they don't realize they're being boiled.
Hopefully you try some good lobster someday.

IF you have never tried lobster, how are you to know they need a "gallon of butter" to taste good?
How is a lobsters death any more or less humane than the death of another animal for food?

If you've never tried it, how can you say you need a gallon of butter to make it taste good?
Anyway, the meat has a very rich taste. On the downside, it takes a certain amount of effort to break through all the outer shells.

Well, everybody has different taste buds and different opinions. Some people do not mind lobsters getting killed, yes it is taking a soul away from earth, but it just doesnt seem to bother them because 'they are lesser'.. This may sound cruel and cold hearted and whatever, but its just thier instincts. I, personally am OK with lobster, its just the taste that makes it.. err.. tasty!
Besides, its like eating chicken, no big deal... Unless your a vegan that is

Back when people first started eating lobster only a few people had the money to get it. Because it wasn't a land animal. I guess it just caught on as an expensive indulgence.

It is quite nice tasting really and has a nice texture. To be honest there are varying grades of lobster.
I think the boiling them alive thing is necessary isn't it or they secret toxins into their flesh. Hey they evolved that way just like we evolved canines to rip flesh from the bone and shell.
All animals will eat the tastiest thing available to them so why should we be any different.

Lobster is yummy. I rarely eat it with butter because that seems to eliminate the flavor, and all you taste is the butter. There aren't many humane ways to kill animals for food.

Many people do not like lobster. It really doesn't have any taste at all. If you really would like to try some lobster, the best lobster supposedly is Maine lobster.
