At 84, any odd feelings a patient is feeling in the head should be reported to the doctor. Sometimes these feelings can foreshadow a stroke. You should contact her physician and report theses symptoms. If she has difficult with balance, speech, headache, disorientation, facial expression, etc., it would be wise to take her to the emergency room. As with heart attack, if she should be having a series of "mini-strokes", there are medications she can receive that may minimize damage/impairment if taken early.

It could be.
You might get her blood pressure checked. If it is high, sometimes it can feel like a book sitting on top of your head.
