I think my coketiels have finally been able to produce an egg that was able to hatch. I am unsure cause they won't let me see, which is fine (protective instincts and all). I just want to make sure that there is nothing extra special I need to do to make sure this baby (if there is one) is able to grow up.

I raised budgies for a while and when they were nesting I would feed them seeds that had been soaked over night. You soak them in water, rinse them really well and put in the cage with the birds for no longer than 2 hours. The soaked seeds are more digestible for the birds but should be removed from the cage after 2 hours as they can go bad quickly. I use to give them some in the morning that has soaked over night and then some in the evening that had soaked all day.
If your parent birds are not friendly, you might not want to bother it too much until its able to eat on its own as the parents might abandon it if you bother them too much.

All birds have the natural instint to raise their young. Most breeders choose to hand raise hatchlings to tame them. You can buy some pre-diegested baby bird food in powder form(might be good to keep some on hand just incase they reject the baby) you can mix a small batch up and the parents may feed it to the baby. My budgies always took such good care of their young I didn't have to step in to help out. Just make sure they have a good nest box and are in a quite room with little distractions. Good luck with the baby!

Yes they do, but don't think you don't need to do anything special, buy a bag of baby bird food, and mix it with the parents veggies, corn, carrots peas, beans, they need the extra nutrition, and the baby needs its, the parents with feed the baby, but you need to get involved with the baby as soon as you can, are you male and female finger trained? If the baby is a week old you need to reach in there and hold it in your hand, let mom and dad sit on you while you coo, and love the baby. Show them you are trustworthy, keep that baby warm, you will fall in love with it , they are so ugly their cute. I adored all fourteen of my little babies, and mama and papa, knew I would care for their babies just like they did.

Yes, their instincts should kick in and they will take care of the baby until it is way beyond time to leave the nest. Relax and enjoy. Ask your vet if there is vitamin supplements you should be adding to the food.
