Bullies pick on the defenseless, because bullies are actually cowards.

Because they can pick on the defenseless without getting hurt themselves. It makes them feel powerful to have others afraid of them. They certainly won't pick on someone bigger or stronger than they are because they are cowards and fear getting hurt. They want others to feel the same fear of being hurt that they feel. If you notice, the bullies usually travel in a group and like to show off in front of their friends.

Bullies do have some brains cells. They know defenseless are better to pick on than strong ones.

i hate when people say that. how can an able-bodied/mentally sound person be defenseless?
just because you are quiet and like to play chess, read books, etc. that doesn't mean you can't punch a bully in face like anyone else.
some kids are just an easy target and for the most part, bullies are usually experiencing some form of abuse or mistreatment themselves, so they feel better by mistreating someone else.

Because they need to pick on someone that is more defenseless than themselves. Bullies are a step from being bullied themselves, so in order to not, they pick on someone who cannot defend themselves.

I agree with count, I think they are cowards for picking on submissive folks. I think bullies have issues with themselves, they want the limelight, any kind they can get. I have a coworker like this, she's a pest. She's always picking on the ones she knows won't stand up to her.

Because they are hurting insecure and sometimes afraid. They need a very understanding person to help them understand that bulling is NEVER acceptable, that there are better ways to get attention and express their emotions.

i am really silent and don't like to curse back or anything
so this guy always picks on me and curses
and then makes fun of me for cursing
