I heard Oprah say she doesnt eat things white such as rice, bread, potato's. So whats the deal? I always thought potato's were healthy as long as you dont drown them in butter and salt.

Maybe Oprah is being racist (haha, just kidding).

Seriously, many white foods are processed and contain little nutritive value. Most of them are dense in carbohydrates, which makes them good for bursts of energy, but if your body can't use them right away they are stored as fat.

So they taste good and are good for immediate energy. But for long term, you should only eat them in moderation.

Any by the way, Oprah, if you're reading this, just kidding. We love you...

I understand white rice, white bread, white sugar....because those are processed and bleached... but I don't agree with potatos... it's 100% natural vegetable! But I know that potatos causes diabetic if you over eat them... Maybe, Oprah is diabetic!

I think that skin on the potatoes are suppose to be healthy, but people don't really eat them with the skins on. Rice and flour are overprocessed so the nutrients that they might have had are lost.

All these 'white' foods have fairly high glycemic indices, which means that they are very easily converted into sugars by the body. Whole grains and most vegetables make the body work harder to convert them into energy or energy stores.

Oprah is a fad diet fan.
She binges then diets then yoyo's back and forth so do not put much stock in what she says.
