If I become an officer in the Marine Corps, in the Infantry Division, what are my chances of ever being in combat? If I'm not stationed somewhere where i'm likely to be in combat, what do i do all day? Scrub toilets? work out? drill? study? what???

The Commandant of the Marine Corps just said last week that ALL Marines will see combat. There are guys that have gone 4 times when some haven't gone at ALL. You can read it here @ usmc.mil http://www.marines.mil/almars/almar2000.nsf/52f4f5d11f10b4c4852569b8006a3e35/075047a2a30532ff8525726c0070cfe7?OpenDocument
I think it's absolutely fair that he did it, if not, what was all the training for??

In order to become an officer you need to have a major in college, and upon graduation you must apply and complete Officer Canidate School.

Officers are less likely to see combat. You are very likely to see combat if you are active in the Marines, however.

In the Marine Corps, you will be trained as a rifle man in boot camp. Therefore, every Marine is a rifle man.

Usually, after boot camp you will be sent to a special technical school to train you on what the Marines think you would do best in.

But since you want to be infantry (or what from I understand), you will train as an infantry man. Rifles, PT, Drill, and all that good stuff. Officers are expected to be leaders, so you will have higher standards set in your behalf to maintain.

everyone is a rifle man first. I am currently being offered a spot in one of the higher USMC Bands if i join up, as well as a promotion for being an Eagle scout. The first thing i was told though was no matter what you are your still useing that rifle if your needed in the Marines, no one is exempt.

Let me put it this way, if you are a Marine, you chances of getting deployed to war is EXCELLENT. You will have plenty to do keeping you and and your men from getting ambushed by setting up a secured perimeter during the time you are not actually fighting.

By asking that question I can tell that you are too damn stupid to be a Marine Officer or even a Marine Private. Join the Army like all the other dumb asses and be all you can be.
