I am a very religious girl and I love God and respect other peoples choices in religion.
Since I don't believe in converting other people, I find I get angry when people in my church say they are going as missionaries to convert people.
Another thing that bugs me is when my parents tell me how gay people are bad. I know in my heart gay people are not bad, and Jesus loves them like he loves everyone else.
Am I disobeying my religion by thinking these things?

I think Haysus is what I was hoping for in an answer.
I believe that people can come to God, BY THEMSELVES. Not with any persuasion WHAT SO EVER. Everyone is a free being and I will NEVER tell someone to change their religion. Even if someone has a different religion, they still have morals.
Unless you are gay, I don't understand how you would know that the way the love is "perverse". Ask a gay person to date a member of the opposite sex. Ask yourself to date someone of the same sex.
I'm sorry, but I almost started crying when I was told "I obey my own God." I then realized that I have to show everything I believe now.
I'm freefalling into the open.

I guess...if I'm not showing the correct ways of a Christian I should change my faith.

As far as I am concerned you are what other Christians should aspire to be. I am an Atheist and I really appreciate your not trying to convert me. And yes you are absolutely right that there is nothing wrong with gays. That ideology should have gone out with the stone age. Christians could learn an awful lot from you. Avoid that frankly Joshua, he is one disturbed and brainwashed individual. The kind of nut bar you might find in a tower with a high powered rifle.

I would honestly prefer to answer this question to get a little more understanding from where your beliefs in Christ are when you ask this question. It sounds like either a) you have been taught some wrong information or b) you have not studied what Christ taught or c) you choose to ignore the teachings of Christ.

In the case of choice C, then anything I say would be discounted.

In the case of A and B, then a further understanding is necessary.

You mention two seperate issues... the first involving mission trips and missionaries.

Jesus proclaims the great commission in Matthew 28:16-20:

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

If Paul didn't become a missionary, you would not have faith in Christ and you would be dead in your sins. If you do not have a burden on your heart knowing that those who don't have Christ and destined to be seperated from God for all eternity in hell, then you really need to examine that portion of your thinking.

Now, on to the second issue of what your parents are telling you regarding homosexuals. They are completely WRONG! Gay people are not bad... in fact, they are some of the nicest individuals I know. And you are correct in saying that Jesus loves them as everyone else. The point is however, we should feel the burden for them as not knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior (or choosing to live a lifestyle that is contrary to biblical teaching).

Finally, try not examining Christianity as a religion but as a relationship and as a belief. One last thing is to take a look at your Christian life. Was there a date when you can remember you accepting Christ as Lord and Savior or do you consider that you have always been a Christian. If it's the latter, read Chapter 3 of John. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

whoa there Ami....now hear me out...

no offense, but you should really check your morals....

1) you may have something against converting people, but most Christians don't. Besides, a person can't be converted unless they actually have the desire to be, even if it takes a little persuausion. So if they want it, how can it be wrong? God wills that everyone would come to Him. But that won't happen unless people want that to happen for themselves.

2) gay people are sinful, as they are disobeying God's command and design. God wants us to have families that work: a husband who loves his wife, a wife who loves her husband, and if they wish to have children, children who love their parents. By being homosexual, you are rejecting God's will and substituting it for your own perverse desires. God loves them (not sexually) and wants them to live as nature intended, as he created it.

and you should consider a one-on-one chat with God, cuz you have that ability, so you use it...

Jesus said "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost"

Do you think that you have some sort of "pass" or an "excuse" that says "Ami doesn't have to do this"?? Sorry you get angry....but it's called the Great Commission and it means "you too".

"Gay" people are just sinners like the rest of us. Sin is sin and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Are you disobedient? Perhaps. But we are all, a little.

You're views don't reflect Christianity.

At Christianity's core, Christianity says that people need saving. You seem to be disagreeing with that.

My suggestion is that you think about what love is and how justice and punishment are a product of love.

I wish you well.

first, it is jesus whom god had given authority(matthew 28:18) to send us to teach people and make disciples

it means that preaching is not only to fellow believers but to all the lands all over the world.having different religions and cultures

god made man and woman to marry...and proccreate(genesis 1:28).............thats the arrangement of god

we need to be in subjection to his arrangement.......(1 corinthians 14:40)---But let all things take place decently and by arrangement.

besides its not in his writing to do such as----(1 corinthians 6:9)((such these will not inherit gods kingdom)... nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men,

romans 1:27.........and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error

it is satan who is causing this blindness to wht god wants us to do......(2 corinthians 4:4)

his laws we need to follow....his ways are exclusive and beneficial..........(exodus 20:5)

I think you worship your own god, the one you have made in your mind and not the God of the Bible.

God told us to go and make disciples of all nations, that is His will which I believe has authority over yours.

The God of the Bible calls homesexuality an abomination, He knows more about what makes Him happy then you do.

So you are worshipping your own god,not the TRUE GOD.
