I have had this friend since I was like four and we were neighbors for like 12 years. Our familes still hang out and he has expressed an intrest in me, I like him too. But I am like a year and a half younger than he is, but I think I am ready for a Relationship with him, how do I go about starting it up without making it really serious very quickly?

you know him well enough to tell him just like you just told us. be open and honest and it will be smooth and probably turn out to be a prosperous relationship. it will be awkward if you do not tell him you don't want to get serious quickly. because it will throw you from friend to girlfriend with no transition. you won't know how to eat a cookie right in front of him anymore. keep it friends and let it grow (because it may not grow). and that is ok, because you are both aware of the "friend approach".

Do not try to make things too serious too quickly. if you try then you might end up pushing him away. Just talk to him and take things very slowly. Age doesn't mean everything. Maturity plays a part. my boyfriend and I are 6.5 years apart and we have been friends for over 4 years. It is working out. Good luck. Hope it works out. Friends are the best type of guys to date.

A side note, if things don't work out are you prepared to lose a good friend. that is part of the risk in dating a guy friend.

start by just recalling the past and joking around a little bit. Get alone somewhere quiet and explain to him how you feel
