Ah, Michigan. home of Yoopers and the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world(way longer and prettier than the Golden Gate Bridge). If you took Michigan's coastline and started at the Maine/Canadian border, it would stretch to the tip of Florida and come part way up the Gulf of Mexico side. Home state of Eminem, Madonna, Lilly Tomlin, Gilda Radner, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Grand Trunk Railroad(the loudest band in the world), Jeff Daniels, Earnest Hemingway, Iggy Pop and Charlton Heston. We have Picconing cheese, Petoskey stones and pasties(meat pies that the Welsh miners took to work for lunch). Home of Vernor's Ginger Ale, Faygo soda pop, Post, General Mills and Kellogg cereals, Stroh's beer and Jiffy cake mixes. The worlds largest salt mine is under the city of Detroit. We have lakes, streams and water falls. Twenty per cent of the world's fresh water is in The Great Lakes. There is so much in Michigan that they couldn't get it all in one state, so we had to split it up between the upper and lower peninsulas(Michigan is the only state in the lower 48 that has two parts). Yes, we don't have the best roads, but this is because of the vast amount of truck traffic that Michigan's industries require. Right now the auto industry is down, but it has been before and has come back up. It goes in cycles as do most businesses. Yes, I think my home state of Michigan is, as Tony the (Kellogg) Tiger would say, "GRRREAT!!!"...........GO BLUE!!!

Great, will you buy my house? Bankruptcies and foreclosures abound in this "great" state. Try selling a home over $200,000. The big three are cutting cushy union jobs left and right so it's open season on the real estate market as the stupid UAW people all leave in droves. Our biggest city, Detroit, is so derelict that there isn't even any smog over it. So I guess if you like nature and isolation, this is the place to be! You can try hunting wild turkey in one of the many urban prairies of Detroit, where healthy businesses once thrived but now are empty ruins.

I think you need to put the joint down and step away from the munchies...
I do happen to like the U.P. It is beautiful country!
On the other hand, the speed limit(s) are too slow in the low country.
So, I would say that regardless of the Model T and Gerald Ford, who I agree was a great statesman, The state itself can stay right where it is at!

Michigan is a great state, however certain city's like Detroit and Benton Harbor are very dangerous even to travel through let alone live in. South Haven is a great city (small) , Kalamazoo is a 3 in a scale to ten as far as City's go. GR - compaired to large city across in the Midwest I rate it a 2. Very limited choices in stores and if you like slow easy going live style Michigan is for you. Jobs choices are very limited and its back to the basics. It's a clean state for the most part, and a great place to relax.

I have lived in 7states in my life (5 as an adult) and Michigan is the only state in which I have bought a house. I love my small-town, up-north life.

I like the people of Michigan but your roads suck, and you people can't drive or merge. Your speed limit is rediculious. For a state that it's main export is automobiles, you'd think you would have better drivers and roads than you do.
