Mr. Bush keeps warning of a great catastrophe that would happen if we leave Iraq but he nor his supporters ever define what that might be. Will Iraq's new army load up on the navy ships, that they don't have, and attack us here in retalliation for what we have done to them for the past 16 years? Will terrorists actually follow our soldiers back to this country and walk right through Customs and Immigration with their weapons and start killing Americans by the thousands? Wouldn't that mean that Mr. Bush has done nothing worth while to protect us from terrorist attacks since 9-11? Will Iran invade Iraq even if we tell them not to and take over Iraq? Will the Iraqi people allow their country to become a terrorist training base even though they did not allow such activity under Saddam's rule? Will Iraq stop selling us olives? Or is the catastrophe Bush so fears that Iraq will not let OUR oil companies control THEIR oil, and Bush won't get his speaking fees from them as his reward?

The terrorists will attack if we leave Iraq! Oh wait, the terrorists are already planning to attack.

Well, if we leave Iraq, they terrorists will use it as a recruiting ground if we aren't there! Oh wait, that is already happening, and every time our soldiers rape young girls and slaughter their families, we get hundreds more young Iraqis wanting to expel the evil Americans from their lands.

Well, maybe Iraq will descend into chaos and civil way... but, then again, that is where they are now.

Oh, I know, we won't leave Iraq because our idiot president won't listen to anyone, Republican or Democrat, with a reasonable analysis of the situation. That, and he is hoping to invade Iran before 2008. That we he can start another war and keep the Presidency for a few more years (no Presidential elections while the country is at war).

The Shia of iran will take over and slaughter Sunnis. Which would piss off Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Don't forget the Palestinians are Sunni. Remember Saddam claiming "Palestine is Arab" on the gallows. The reason why no one wanted to go in there before is because it's a cauldron of hostility. We f***ed up bad. I know diplomacy sucks but cutting off their supply of money was the only way to deal with these people. i.e. developing cheap hydro. for fuel cells and telling them to go to hell

I see your point in saying this, but there are a few things i'd like to say:

I agree... If we were to pull out now, the iraqis really couldn't do much to us.........yet.
We are looking at a lasting effect here. I think that ultimately they will have to have a civil war and fight out the differences amongst themselves and may the more determined take the battle.

Right now i don't think that's the issue. It's comparable to a fight with somebody that is ten times smaller than you, but knows your weak spots: If we pull out now, it's like telling every terrorist group in the world that we won't fight to the victory. We might as well anounce it from the tops of the highest towers in every city of every country in the world that we are more concerned with our own comfort then the fight for our freedoms. If we pull out now then then the troops will be working harder to protect our homeland than they ever were fighting in Iraq.

That being said, i don't think we should be putting more troops over there. All Iraq needs right now is the support to get back on their feet and the guidance to set up a government system that works for them. Once that fight is complete, or mission is accomplished and Johnny can come marching home again.

If we were to take the money that is being spent to send the extra troops to iraq, and instead spend it on the reconstruction of that torn nation, we would gain favor of the Iraqi people so fast that we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves!

What if: Instead of spending the money to send a soldier, we used that money to educate a child in Iraq?
A soldier will go over, protect his comraddes, follow orders, and come back without ever changing much.
An educated child will grow up to change lives, win a diplomatic war instead of a violent war, become the next great leader of a nation, lift a nation out of poverty, gain favor and alliance with other countries, and ultimately change the world that we live in.

Bush plans to send 21500 new troops to Iraq in the near future. I wonder if he has ever considered the value of using that money to instead educate 21500 children and young adults in Iraq. Can you imagine the difference that would make!?!?! The thought is almost astounding!

Well, that's my take on it anyway.

Just my two cents on a ten dollar subject.

What catastrophe you ask!!!

That's an easy one. Bush and all his Republican friends will look like morons and they won't be able to steal elections and give billions of dollars of tax relief to the richest 1% of Americans. Also, the Republicans will be defeated in 2008 and the biggest disaster of all will result: 50 million Americans will get health insurance under a Democratic health insurance plan. I shudder when I think of these catastrophes at our doorstep!! By all means, we must keep bankrupting our country and sending our Best and Brightest to die 6000 miles away at the hands of hate-crazed Iraqis to keep these catastrophes from occurring!!

the price of oil would go way up as we would lose control of Iraq oil. remember it is about the oil. it is about the oil. it is about the oil.
Say it ten times and do not forget it.
it is odd to me that nobody ever mentions the oil in any of the interviews or comments i see on CNN or MSNBC or FOX

Whoa, buddy .... how about just ONE question.

Not Comprehensible.

They will blow up your house, kill your wife and rape your dog, then use your children as suicide/homicide bombers to kill all your friends.

I love all these "What if..." questions. What if you had never been born because Hitler hadn't been stopped? What if aliens came down and took over the earth? What if we stopped saying what if?

Lots of people jacking their jaws, but few really trying to SOLVE the HUGE problems that face the ENTIRE PLANET and ALL of its inhabitants.

If we cut and run and bury our head in the sand while we hug each other and drive home with our Kerry Stickers intact. Will the left take responsibility as the region denigrates and terrorism strikes at home?
