The best way to get rid of the dust is to get rid of the carpet. Carpets are dust collectors and every time you move on it, you are sending dust back into the air. Or get a very good vacuum cleaner and clean it several times a week. One of the first things a doctor will tell a person with asthma who is bothered by dust is to get rid of the carpets. You could also try shampooing it often. That will help to move a lot of dust from it that the cleaner misses.
When you dust, use a damp cloth as it picks up the dust instead of letting it back into the air.

Vacuum & dust with a moist rag often. Don't open windows. When you leave your room close the door so you won't get the dust from the rest of the house.

Regular vacuuming of the carpet, and perhaps washing the walls will rid the dust.
