i'm on a diving team and got a few questions.
every day after my hair dries, people say it looks greasy, and i'm pretty sure that's because of the pool chlorine. i know i need to use some kind of conditioner for it... does anyone have any suggestions as to which specific conditioner or shampoo or whatever i should use?
also, i'm pretty sure that another result of the chlorine is a small cowlick on a small portion of the end of my hair. how the heck do i get rid of it forever (besides cutting it off)?!?! this has been driving me insane for quite a while.

Hi there, the cholrine in the water is forming a layer on top of the cuticles on your hair. This gives a shiny kinda plasticly look. I can understand why people are saying it looks greasy. I have seen a lot of clients and I can usually tell they are regular swimmers before they mention it.

You need to use a deep cleansing shampoo and (cant believe i am going to say this) a cheapo store bought conditioner. My suggestion for the cleansing shampoo would be AVEDA DE-TOXIFIER. or LOREAL KERASTASE BAIN CLARIFIANT.

The purpose of the cheapo conditioner would be to provide a barrier for the hair to stop the darn cholrine affecting it. Cheap conditioners contain silicone, which works as a barrier to smooth cuticles. its usually bad for the hair because it causes breakage) but if you are using a decent shampoo, tis wont be the case. The silicone will prevent the cholrine from attaching itself to your hair making it look greasy.

Hope you understood that, not very good at explaining. Good luck!

Clarifying shampoo is all you need....some conditioner would work nice along with it though too. You can get some at a beauty supply store or a walmart possibly. It will say clarifying shampoo on it though. Perfect for swimmers.

Try using a leave in conditioner before you swim. After swimming wash out your hair and apply the leave in conditioner again. This protects your hair when you are swimming and conditions it after. Try this. I do competitive swimming so i train everyday amd it works for me.
