I Like this guy who plays flute, is a junior and like the first chair flute in our school band. I want to know if anyone thinks that's wierd. If so why? And if you don't do you think it's cool I like him? By the way I also play the flute too.

HECK NO!!! There was this one guy who played the flute in our band from elementary school to high school. He was always the only guy. No one thought anything of it, mainly because he was really, really good. By Senior year, he was the drum major for the marching band, which is a really COOL position to hold in anyone's book!

That's not weird at all! Obviously he's really good at it and very creative. Many of the best flute players in the world right now are men and I actually have more male flute students than female, so I think people's perception of the flute as a feminine instrument is changing.

Of course it's not weird - if you like him, then go for it. Playing flute doesn't say really anything important about his personality.

And besides, there are many, many professional male flute players!

You have then a shared interest, which is always good. Be happy that he may be more sensitive than other guys because he's a musician!! ;)

SOCIETY has placed a gender on the flute. It was NEVER meant to be a "girl's" instrument. A long time ago, it was frowned upon for a female to play in public. The flute has been around a lot longer than that. So, yes, it is OKAY to like a guy who plays flute.

That is no different than liking anyone else. So, he plays the flute, big deal. That just means he has talent. Sounds good to me. With you both playing the flute, you could make some beautiful music together.

not at all! in fact, my best friend plays the flute and he's the best flute player our school has ever had! and he is always going out with some girl. and i too play the oboe. no it has nothing to do with a hobo, and it does NOT sound like a duck lol. there's nothing wrong with doing what you're good at, and girls can do anything guys can, and, um, guys can do most things girls can. so hey, i, the oboe player, say rock on! guys can play instruments like that and be awesome. i'm first chair too, and i'm definately straight lol. good luck!

If he is the opposite sex, why would it be weird? What's wrong with playing a flute? It's not good or bad that you like him. Is he marriage material? Don't give your heart OR body away until you find your husband.

There isn't anything wrong with a guy that plays a flute. Some people can be so shallow. Nobody says anything when girls play drums, trumpet, or trombone. If you like him, then go for it. Don't worry if people say anything....it's really none of their business anyway. Best of luck to you.

of course it isnt strange. i actually think its sweet that hes interested in music enough to play such a fine instrument. i myself play the flute. i would love it if a boy at my band level played the flute, so we could relate to one another.

i hope it works out with you two!
