What are the pro's and con's to the two? Also what is better a hand mixer or a stand mixer? I am registering for my wedding. Do I need a food processer, and a blender? Do I need a hand mixer and a stand mixer? Thanks.

Our kitchen might not be huge when we get married, which of these would I need more than the others?

A food processor works better for cutting, chopping things. Also does some stirring. A blender works well for stirring things, making drinks, some chopping (if you add water.) If you can only have one, I'd get a blender.

Hand mixer is for light mixing jobs. Like mashing potatoes, or using in pots over a stove burner. Stand mixer is heavier duty, and does a better job of making cakes, cookies, breads. Best of all, would be a stand mixer that will detach from the stand so that you could use it as a hand mixer.

Could I suggest, too that you register for a wood block stand with really good knife set.

I would have a food processor and not a blender, but not the reverse. A blender basically just mixes stuff up, like milkshakes; a food processer (especially a good one) will chop things and mix even heavy batters.

One of the things I use regularly is a hand blender. The one I have has a little bowl that you can put the blender on to chop things as well. If you're mixing, you can put in right down into the bowl - gives you lots of control. Great for smoothies and mashed potatoes.

I don't even own a blender or a standing mixer.

a blender will turn everything to powder, such as nuts, and a food processor will actually cut, chop, etc. Blenders are great for shakes. A hand mixer is best for cakes and mashed potatoes but a stand mixer is great for cookies and some cakes that shouldn't get too much air when stirred.

yes you need both a blender and a food processor a blender only has one set of blades on the bottom and is not good for making large quantities of things except drinks, a food processor does just what it says and processes food you can use it to crumble cheese and other things. you really should have all four items in a well equipped kitchen blender food processor stand mixer and hand mixer

i would get all ofthe above. Hand mixers are for simple things like batters and what not and places you cant get a stand mixer in, stand mixers usually have attachments and have more power so you can mix bread and the like. Blenders are for liquids and such that will be fed by gravity to the bottom blades, where as processors are made for non gravity fed things or stuff that wont really move, like raw veggies or whatnot and the blades come up higher.

definatly stand and hand mixers.
cuz sometimes you don't need to pull out the gigantic stand mixer for some things..but if you don't bake often then i guess just the stand will do you.

i would also say both, food processers can fit more and do more than just blend it together, you can pulse it and chop more evenly.

I prefer my food processor
it can even do dough
Blenders usually are consistently used for Margarita's so if you plan on making a lot of Margaritas or smoothies Pick Blender

I chop nuts or onions carrots etc in no time with my processor
You can even do coffee beans in the processor
Happy Wedding
