There's this guy.
I don't really know him at all. Infact, I've never said a word to him.
He used to make eye contact/stare a lot ( 6 whole months) untill two weeks ago, when I started looking back a little more.
Could it be becuase:
He lost interest
He's shy

Ok Asking him is a good idea but if you do not want to be to straight forward start talking to him about something else do not go and ask him why he was looking at you try to make a conversation with him if he tries to keep it short he is probably not interested but if he starts talking then it is your luky day. But remember you have to talk to him anyway, and one more thing who says that a guy has to make the first move?

If he had interest, he would have probably already shown you more than just a look.
If you are sure he was showing interest, and you didn't respond in a way that he considered to be a mutual sign of interest, by possibility of maybe having decided you were likely not interested in him, or just in need of attention, or maybe even a game-player, he may have dismissed the thought of engaging in any further show of interest entirely.
You may try and go to him? But it is my guess he already did some mental recon, and decided against pursuing anything.

Staring doesn't really mean anything unfortunately, except that he likes what you look like. That isn't the same as being interested in you if it's the only sign. Chances are he stares at a lot of girls. Sorry. Look for a guy who is easy for you can talk to in a natural way.

He was probably shy and gave up, and now has someone else to make eye contact with.

u said it , he's shy , he feels something big towards u from a long time and his love is getting bigger day after another towards u .
and he's shy , and he feel afraid to tell u that , cause he's afarid from ur reaction towards him , when he will tell u how he feels towards u . be direct with him . and show him some care as a test

Naw, he's probably just shy and doesn't want you to know he's staring at you, or doesn't want to get caught staring at you.
