A family member of mine with sinus problems, has an extremely dry mouth. She drinks water off and on all day, uses hard candy, etc., but nothing seems to help for very long.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for any comments.

I don't see a direct link between the sinus problem and the dry mouth, unless it's related to sinus medication. There are many medications (not just for sinus) that can cause a dry mouth, and a number of medical conditions. I'd suggest you seek the cause as it may be possible to relieve the symptoms more effectively than anything else.
I am happy to send you a list of medicines and conditions if you send me an email thru my Profile. It's too long for here.
The Biotene products are a good choice to try, and I recommend them to some of my patients. There are also salivary substitutes available from pharmacies too. I would certainly avoid hard candy or she'll end up with decay instead. People with poor saliva are particularly vulnerable to decay because they have lost the protective function of saliva. Don't compound it by having sweet lollies, drinks, etc.
Also, watch out for caffeine - this has a diuretic effect and will also compound her problem.

Their is a gum that is called Biotene. It is a sugar free gum but tastes really good. It is made especially for dry mouth. It comes 16 pieces to a box. It is a sugar free Mint gum. You can get it at Wal-Mart or any pharmacy. I don't know why, but it is a non-prescription gum, but you get it at the pharmacy.

there is a lozenge you can buy that stimulates saliva but it tastes like **** and is hard to find. I don't even remember the name of it. try ice cubes, or sucking on a small smooth rock.
