Every time I go out side in the cold for about 1 1/2, my fingers & toes get swollen and itchy. What could be causing this?

I think it is called chill-blane, but I am not sure of the spelling. It is actually a blood flow issue. You body due to the cold is restricting blood flow to the outermost extremeties. When you come back inside, the itching is the blood returning full flow to those areas. I ercommend wearing heavier or multiple pairs of socks and gloves. my wife has the same issue.

It's a lack of circulation from your blood withdrawing from those extremities.
The swelling & itching is caused from a a "Negative Feedback" mechanism of homeostasis, that will prevent you from losing your fingers & toes by rubbing them to gain the circulation back. Pretty smart anatomy huh?

just read about this. It could be frost nip which is the first stage of frost bite . Be careful to keep them warm by wearing gloves or mittens and wool socks
