Traits come and go, some leave entirely.
Interesting theory on the attractiveness of british women: viking raiders took all the attractive women from britain to scandanavia, which is why swedish women are hot and british women aren't.
Just remember, the ugly people have you outnumbered.

Well, also the ugly ones may finally find a mate!
I would rather ask, how come that a clear disadvantage such as shortsightedness ever survived Natural Selection.
Also, attractiveness parameters change with cultures.
