Cold liquids and hard candies help keep the throat moist and help sooth the irritated tissues so they can heal. Also avoiding talking as much as possible. Ibuprofen can help with inflammation and discomfort in the meantime. Also a humidifier running in your general area adds moisture to the air you breathe, making it easier and less drying to the throat and nose. If you have a cold with drainage, taking medications to help control the worst of the symptoms will also help. If you remove or limit the cause of the coughing and limit the drainage, you tend no to continually damage or irritate the tissues of the nose and throat. So treat the cold/cough, drink cold liquids and quit talking.

Definitely NO TALKING!!! Warm tea with honey and lemon. Try sucking on throat lozenges too. But seriously...no talking. You need to rest your voice and throat for a few days. If you are feeling this way, I do hope you feel better soon.
