In the 30's and 40's film stars often said "Bye" by saying TA-TA. Think Garbo for instance. This was picked up by filmgoers and died out in common practice by the 50's. Thanks to the retro trend It's coming back but this time they seem to have dropped the second TA. It just means, "I'll see you later."

just ta? i at times say ta ta meaning bye for now. tigger on winnie the pooh says ta ta for now and also says ttfn. not sure where u r from, so trying to fill u in. best to u
