it depends on how much the people are exchanging with eachother. you should put an equal amount to balance it out so everyone has the same amount of money in the end.

It depend on the event, and how close the relationship you have with the person who invited you.
'Ang Pao' is a hokkien world in chinese society, it in red colour like a small envolope, especially use in chinese new year and other occasion like wedding gift or birthday gift where one's wish to offer some mony to congratulate the other party.
