Now that ive got my black belt in American TKD, im looking for a new martial art to take up. does anyone have any recommendations? im looking at judo right now.

also could you explain why itd be good to take that MA?

freestyle karate.because it's a good well rounded ma.teaches stand up,ground/grappling and weapons.most instructers train in different styles.i said most not all.finding a good instructer is the hard part.

why stop there if you've only got as 1st degree black belt?, keep studying TKD; you can only get better at it if you stick with it.

Judo's good too though, it's a pretty good groundfighting discipline so you're doing pretty well for yourself in being a more well rounded Martial Artist.

but it's really up to you what you want to study, since I don't know where you live and what schools are available in your area. so I can't make a suggestion.

all I can say is, look in the phone book or internet search engine to make a selection.

Shorei Ryu - A nice, classic Okinawan martial art

Jujutsu - Much better than judo for building a good ground game

Capoeira - Very unique. Pretty much the only martial art so distinct that it can be instantly recognized when seen applied and not confused with another art.

Just because you have your black belt it doesn't mean that you know everything. It just means that you are an advanced beginner. NOW is the time that the learning really begins.

Hapkido is my personal favorite. It involves more wrist locks and controlling moves. And it has some kicking that your TKD background would become very useful.

Ballet will help you with balance and muscle tone,You'll also probably be able to get a date.
