Not always, but sometimes, after I have let bottled ice water melt to drink, there appear to be tiny particles floating in the water and I toss the water, not knowing what the particles are. Seems the water is not clear and clean as it should be and is most of the time. Also find this in a glass after ice cubes have melted.

Those floating particles are dissolved solid in the water used to make ice cubes.Solubility of different solids decreases with decrease in water temperature. As a result during the process of cooling for making cubes some solids get precipitated. These are the particles you notice when you melt the ice cubes.

I always thought it was the plastic bottle particles detached from the bottle, while freezing and back. That's why people say, you should not drink melted water in plastic bottles, it's the plastic particles.
But as you also see those in ice cube water, so that could be something else, unless ice is taken out from plastic containers.

Oh my gosh Ive been wondering the same thing! It happens with the ice cubes for me and it always happens. I figured it was from the filter, I could see the particles coming off the ice if it sits for a minute. I have to hurry up and eat the ice before it starts so i wont be disgusted. I think it does have something to do with the filter.

just as a heads up...boiling water wont remove calcium and the like...it will only make it more concentrated, therefore more of a problem. Typically though, the stuff floating is just hard water depsoits from the despensing system, or what not. And nothings ever perdectly clean. Besides, if it was wed all be dead for lack of immunity!

It could be minerals in the water that have congealed in the freezing process, or dirt in the bottle/ice tray. This doesn't happen all the time.

Dont know - I've never had that problem. Maybe the ice trays are dirty or have bits stuck in them you dont see when dry but float off in the water ?????

too much hard water.... calcium deposits or ice tray's not clean

but if you boil the water first then let it set- it will not only calcium free but be clear and smokey free looking like you get in the sacks and bars- professional ice!
