I am pretty sure there are people out there with lots of kids that aren't mormon.
My family - there are 4 kids.
My husbands family - 6 kids
My neighbors - 2 kids
My sister - 2 kids

All mormons.

My grandparents - 5 kids
Not Mormon

You are just stereo-typing. I feel we have as many children as we are "supposed" to. I have always felt that I would only have a couple children. Some people want more, some want less. Maybe it is a "mormon" thing because the gospel is all about family and we want to be with our families forever.

I'm LDS, and yes, the families in our religion tend to be larger than average. It might surprise you to know that our religion allows for any kind of contraceptive a husband and wife may choose, and church leaders have stated that it's up to each individual couple to prayerfully decide the size of their family - though they urge us not to limit the size for selfish reasons - you know, don't put that boat or big house on the hill first.

Anyway, I think a lot of couples choose to have bigger families because family is such a huge part of our religion and it can easily take a bigger priority over other things (even things that most wouldn't consider selfish to want).

Well, I am currently pregnant with my first child, and my husband and I aren't sure if we'll be having any more after this. I've got some minor back and knee problems that may make carrying the weight and chasing toddlers too difficult. So we're just going to watch this one closely and see how it goes, and then decide from there.

Yeah, that was probably more rambling that you needed :) Have a nice day.

Not just the mormons.
Catholics are exhorted to have large families as well.
Which also makes them crazy too - by your standards.

Not all LDS have big family, I only have 4 kids.

So long they can manage it, what so crazy about it.

Having more kids is better than abortion, or abandoning babies
don't you think?

I dont think they believe in birth control...I know a couple that live in Kansas that are still having babies(they have 9 so far of their own) and they just keep giving them to other people simply because they dont believe in birth control.

It is part of their religion to procreate, they must bring as many embryonic Gods into the world as they possibly can.

Why not? It gives more people an opportunity to LIVE... you have a problem with that?
