it costs thousands of dollars to paint each police car it also costs a great deal of money to paint police buildins and to give cops uniforms couldnt this money be better spent on getting more police to protect our neighborhoods or giving current police raises or better ongoing training

Part of Policing requires community involvement, and how can the community stop you and talk to you when your car looks like the rest of the cars out on the street? Police dont only punish crime, they deter it all together, if a Cruiser was pulled up infront of a store when somebody was plotting to rob it and when they pulled up they saw the police car, they'll know theres an officer in there and wont do it, but if the car was there with no paint the crime would go down anyways. Same thing for the Uniforms, but the Uniforms are way more important than Cruisers being painted.

OK, now tell me how you identify the police when you need help? Just go up to random cars until you find some because they aren't any different than the other people?
The reason is so that people can find them quickly in time of need. Plus when we answer a call for service like a burglary in progress, the victim and other agencies can tell the players apart. Otherwise we just see some dude running up with an M-4 carbine in his hand, do we shoot him or say thanks for the help?

The law requires police vehicles to be marked with distinctive insignia to distinguish them.

If they just drove regular cars, it would be too easy to impersonate. There have been several instances of fake cops robbing people.

personally i think its wrong because its entrapment. Just like how cops can now use unmarked cars for bust. i feel this should be and is against the law. If i need a cop, i want to be able to find him, and when im trying to stay away, i want to know where they are.
