Its the opposite of the physical world.
Fire is dark. You are gaseous, you breath solid oxygen. Turn up the volume and the stereo goes silent. Men fake their orgasms and women ejaculate... you know, you get the idea.

The English word hell, is rendered in Greek as Hades, and in Hebrew as Sheol, all 3 have the same meaning Grave. If you look at Revelation Chapter 20:14. You will see that Hades or Hell was cast into the lake of fire which means the second death or everlasting destruction and that will be Dark.

Hell is the place you go after death. A dark cold pit. The lake of fire is where you spend eternity. In the end, hell and death will be thrown into the lake of fire. Also there is no natural light. Just like at night it is dark although there are streetlights and stars in the sky

Another name for Jesus is the Light. Jesus will not be in Hell with you, therefore no Light. Also, the fire of Hell couldn't be the same physical fire we know today. A physical fire wouldn't have any effect upon a spiritual being. Therefore, the fire of Hell must be a spiritual fire, and therefore may be void of physical light. This is only conjecture, but makes sense.

You are confusing the spirit realm and physical realm. Heaven and hell are not located in the physical realm, which Peter tells us will be destroyed when Jesus returns. Since they are not physical realm places, then the figurative descriptions must be interpreted with that fact in mind. Fire, time, space, heat, and light are all elements of the physical realm.
2Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar. Fire will destroy everything in them. God will judge the earth and everything in it. 11 So everything will be destroyed. And what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives. 12 Live like that as you look forward to the day of God. It will make the day come more quickly. On that day fire will destroy the heavens. Its heat will melt everything in them. 13 But we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth. Godliness will make its home there. All of this is in keeping with God’s promise.

you have seen them weld under water?
no heat ,because its surrounded by water
hell is like water any light dosnt spread ,just as god said in the beginning
let there be light
the same darkness he dispelled yet tries to oppress his light today
that dark place is called hell.
the fire is the bounds of the lowest hell ,the true sepperation line ,that allows for fire but not that light escape
god is light /love ,evil is where god is denied to be thus his light
cannot be seen ,felt nor heard.
and love [light] thus cant go into the hell ,he can send minions ,even be there unseen but till they repent and allow the light /warmth /heat /love in its like watching a very real movie
all affect no reality.
its wierd so we wake up
it seems so real ,that fire 666 miles deep but hell extends for eternity
im in the next town you still holding up your match stick
i cant see your light ,
but hells inhabitants are in hell because they dispise the light
it would be a safe bet any fool stiking a match amoung those sworn to hate and stamp out the light ,might not be appriciated by thier fellow inhabitants
ps bring your own matches.

Imaginative question.
Radiation is a fire w/ no light.
The concept of hell has several names in the Bible. The one of no light as you suggest is Sheol, refering to the "storage" or resting place under the earth i.e. the crust. Though not stated outwardly, the belief was only those who were buried got to go there. It was land of shadows.

That is a great point, it is impossible, however I am sure that Christians will say magic. Because Satan created hell, or maybe God did, yeah probably God since he created everything. That sadistic moron created a lake of fire which is totally dark for his children who he loves, but will hold a grudge for the rest of time and make you suffer for not worshiping him.

A common misconception, Hell is actually all ice. "Inferno" is found from Italian, "Inverno", which means winter, or something like that.
Some other people actually speculate that Hell is whatever your deepest fear is, and that we do not all suffer the same Hell.

I will answer your question, it is a symbol of the reality of the fire that will burn in mens spirits from being separated from God. Lots of things in Revelation are symbols of reality.
