Hi, I've tried without success to melt blocks of wax used for waxing before. A block meaning Eg. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Caron-Viva-Azure-Hard-Wax-100-Wooden-Spatulas_W0QQitemZ160078694639QQihZ006QQcategoryZ78725QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Last time I did I filled a baking dish with boiling water and let it float in there. The melting was mediocre at best- the centre rock-hard and the edges barely runny, and it made a huge mess which I had the biggest trouble cleaning, so I binned it and vowed to get microwaveable wax.

The problem is the best non-strip wax comes in blocks so do I buy a wax heater or can I put it in the oven or something?

Also when I've used it I often have the problem of cleaning oil-based waxes off things. I've been using Jiff (a cream grime remover) and steel wool. Do the beauty trade sell something that you can spray to remove wax easily or disintergrate it?

The only way is to use a wax pot- but i'm not sure if you can buy one, it depends on where you are located. In Australia they are sold to trade professionals only and we have to register and show trade identification id's to buy them from suppliers. If you do buy a wax pot wrap the wax block in a couple of plastic bags and take it outside and use a hammer on it. That way the pieces are small enough to fit in the pot.
For cleaning we use a citrus based solvent which we buy from the suppliers but you can get similar solvents from supermarkets. The citrus acid melts the wax- but the wax is always easier to clean up and remove if it is still warm
Hope this helps you

get a piece of paper put it over the wax get your iron and iron over it. The wax will come off on the paper leaving nothing behind. Same thing happened to me except mine picked up the candle and spilled the wax, this trick worked great!

Melt wax in a double boiler, as for removing wax if you can put it in the freezer. Wax shrinks in the freezer and it can be easliy lifted off.On a surface use ice to freeze then lift.
