My girlfriend and I have been dating a while. She has a baby from a previous marriage and can only have one more child due to something with her hip. I don't know the exact terminology but guess it's like osteoporosis of the hip? She can only have one more child and I would love to have a boy to carry my name. I may seem selfish but I am very accepting if the child is a girl.

I would love the child the same way. I am a teacher and I teach 30 kids already so her daughter is not an issue. I treat my students like they are my own kids. I always wanted a son (well I wanted 3 kids ever since I was younger) but I love my girlfriend very much and I accept the fact she can have one more child because of her ailment. She is against any unnatural methods (no petri dish or test tube baby) to increase chances of having a son. Thanks for your time!

To Jenny, I teach elementary education - I know what I was like in HS :-) so that's why i chose not to teach it. I wasn't into biology, history was my subject.

no, the child's sex is completely depend ant on the whether or not you (being the father) pass on your X or Y gene
every egg that she has has one X gene in it. so if you pass on your X gene the child shall have two X genes (XX) and shall be a girl if you pass on your Y gene the child shall have one X and one Y gene (XY) and shall be a boy
due to the way that sperm is created 2 out of every 4 sperm shall have the Y gene and the other 2 shall contain the X gene in an ideal world so you have about a 50% chance
if you want to be sure of the child gender look into invetro fertilization, i am not sure but it may be possible for the doctors to place in a single sperm that contains the desired gene,
there is also the possibility of sergeant mothers
the women who gives birth shall not be your girlfriend but it shall be her egg and your sperm that the child develops from
but she may consider all of that unnatural

good luck to ya

A simple answer to your question is NO. Its all to do with pure luck and the male sperm.I do hope that your wish comes true and its a boy but I am sure you will love the baby just as much if its a girl. I have 2 boys and 1 girl and if I was completely honest I would have to say the 1 girl is something very special to me. Good luck

#1 I think you need to marry her first; why should any woman want to give a man (who won't even marry her) a child?
#2 dumbest thing I ever heard - no, positions cannot affect the sex of the baby. The fact that you say you are a teacher is kinda scaring me now!
#3 why don't you consider adoption if you want a boy so desperately, or want more children?

Wait, you're a teacher and you don't know basic genetics????? That is really sad! EVEN in highschool we knew that THE MALE decides the sex of the child (X chromosome means a GIRL), and (Y chromosome means a boy). No positions will do anything to help with the sex. GEEZ!

The only thing YOU can do is to have your sperm tested and see if you are shooting more x or y chromosomes.

There is no way to make your child the sex you want it to be. It is all the the genes and the DNA that determines the sex. You can pray, if you are religious, but even that isn't a sure thing.

I've heard that if you conceive late in the ovulation cycle that you could get a boy because boy sperm is lazy and usually die off before the girl sperm. It's worth a try if she knows her ovulation cycle well enough.
