its pride and male chauvanism. and is also how they were raised. some men think that THEY are the ones that give gifts but they forget that the important thing is love. some men think is corny to every month give gifts and remember when they met. my gf and i every month say happy anniversary and we've been together for 1 year. we say happy 1 year and 1 month anniversary, its nice to remember and it makes us fall in love again. not all men like this so you need to deal with it or talk to him. i love to surprise my girl and for her to do the same is nice to be a detailed couple. good luck just talk with him and see what he wants

probably because he is not used to, or maybe in the past he has expected things from people and they simply did not come through for him. so sometimes disappointment can cause a
person to turn inward and not accept anything from any one
because they have been hurt before. But however, if you must get him a gift, remain mindful of his resolution, try something
simplistic like, cooking his favorite meal and then give him a
carefully chosen valentines day card. no, it does not sparkle
like diamonds and other expensive jewelry, but anything done
with lots of love carries more impact than any material gift.

I don't know why they say they don't want anything...
If you want to do something special for him on valentine's day.. maybe make him a nice romantic supper, and give him a good massage afterwards... I've never been good at the guys and valentine's thing.. luckily I don't have to worry about it this year.. If you can think of something that he would enjoy, but may not actually go out and get himself, get that for him... I'm sure he won't turn it down if you're giving it to him (who doesn't like presents?)

Guys tend to be more into practical things than sentimental things.
Many ladies really appreciate thoughtful gifts such as flowers but a guy would prefer a six pack of beer and tickets to see the game.

Guys do want something but they would rather shop for themselves.
Get him a box of chocolates. OR a stick with a helium balloon attached. Guys go crazy over that. Or better yet a goldfish in a small bowl.

Guys have been stripped of the joy they once got when courting girls. Now, girls want to be the ones to give gifts, send a guy flowers, write him poems, buy him cards, ask him out, plan dates, pick his clothes, manage his friends... they've killed the motivation to be romantic. So now a lot of men aren't interested.

Because substance rather than style is what turn's us on the most...probably the same for girls, but we're much less sensitive about it. What we do want though is a major stair to the eyes, with a major hug, and a major kiss!!

it has to do with the male genetics. Men for years are the providers. We have been programmed to give and not recieve. I am the same way i don't ask my gf to get me anything and if she does i am grateful but it wouldn't be a loss if i didn't get anything. It is all male behavior and genetics in the male body

my husband would rather I didn't spend money on him. but if there is something he needs I get it then. He really does appreciate it. What he likes is me to make him a special meal one I normally wouldn't make for him.
