My sister is a very talented artist. I want her to draw a pic of an dark angel for a tattoo for me later on. However, she illustrates Anime comics, and someone told me that because anime tends to have sharp edges and a lot of detail, a tattoo artist will not be able to transfer the design faithfully, and they will want to redo her artwork to suit their skills. Is this true? I really don't want anyone tampering with her work, but I don't want to put her through the trouble of designing a tat for me if there isn't an artist to do it.

Sorry, Pete, but I already have two tattoos. Both are where I can easily hide them if necessary, and hardly anyone even knows about them unless I show them. Didn't ask for permission, I asked for artist advice.

Ask her to draw it as simply as she can. Or use two images, one with shading etc based on a line drawing(basically two versions of the same image).
A good tattoo artist will do shading and blending with with the larger needle groups, but would probably appreciate both a simpler line drawing to transfer to your skin, and something with what her finished idea should look like according to you and her. That would seem to be the best way to satisfy what everyone needs to get the finished product to be exactly what you want it to be.

I think your best bet is to get the tat drawn and then see what the tattoo artists say. Be sure to look at their work beforehand. A lot of tattoos are very detailed. Im confident you can find one to reproduce your sisters design faithfully.

Well all tattoo artists will usually make slight adjustments just to make it look right on your body, but they won't change it too much. The only problem with detailed tattoos is they will blend together as the skin ages so tattoo artists are going to suggest you get it bigger than you may have planned.

that is absolutely not true. they will be able to take the picture that she drew and trace out the major lines so they can transfer it on your skin. then they will look at the drawing she did in order to get all of the detail in the tattoo. it is completely doable as long as you have the right artist. do research on who to go to, don't just pick whomever is the closest or cheapest. good luck!

I'm going to have to say "no". You're probably okay.
I have a Chinese dragon on my back. One that I brought into the parlor. They didn't have a problem with reproducing.
However, I should say it took four hours and I drank a lot of Jack Daniels.
