You are supposed to love your neighbor as yourself. Not more than, not less than.

It is one of those Jesus sayings that, even as an atheist, I can accept as a laudable ethical goal.

Too bad most Christians can't. At least not since they abolished restrictive covenants on real estate.

I don't love myself unconditionally. I am my toughest critic, and am harder on myself when I do fall short of God's glory. I use God's word to help me sort through the parts of me that are weak, and may give into the temptations of sin, because God's Word is like a mirror that allows me to see myself on the inside.

With the help of the Lord, together we make the necessary corrections that help me to be stronger the next time I am faced with a similar situation. I grow in faith and work hard to not disapoint Jesus again. But its' an on going effort.

Nope. In fact I don't have a high regard for myself at all, and if I do, I know that there's a problem and I need to be humbled.
