relationships don't start because you just ask some guy you have a crush on if he'll go out with you, that doesn't make him your boyfriend. They develop between 2 people who get to know each other over a period of time.
go to Dan, and just ask him when the 2 of you are going to hang out. If he gives you an answer like "umm, I'm not sure, kinda busy, we'll see" walk away and forget about him. If his answer is "I'm free after school, or on Saturday if you want to go see a movie", then just ignore what your friend said and get to know Dan for the person he really is, not just the guy you've had a crush on.

You should just wait until you can be alone and just ask him about it. Guys can be really about stuff like this, and he might be afraid to tell you anything for fear of hurting your feelings. But, even though the girl who told you is your best friend, rethink how trustworthy she is. Just a heads up, I'm 22, and I've found out the hard way, that even your "best friends" will screw you over if they really like a guy...

Are you sure your friend or best friend does not like him? It looks like she said that only to keep you away from him. If that is the case, you should take to your boyfriend and ask if he really said that. Sometimes, girls do this to their best friends if they want the guy. Good luck.

Ask him directly. You should be able to tell by his answer. I've found girls lie (no offense to your friend) but I would want to hear it from him directly instead of taking anyone else's word for it.

your friend probably likes him and wants you to stay away from him. ask her to be honest . If you think she is serious, then ask the guy. make sure he looks straight into you eyes. try to detect any hint of lying. if you think he is, break it off, but if not, you and your friend need to talk.
