For profit, you need a male and female of the same breed...With complete papers. Then you let them get to know one another. When the female is in heat, you'll know when that happens, let them go in the basement or garage. We used a garage, and even had a mattress in there. She and him went in there every day till she was with puppies. No profit? Mixed breeds and no papers. they are adorable but can't really profit from them. No papers....people want papers and first shots when buying a puppy.

First of all,DO NOT buy breeding dogs out of the newspaper,on the internet,or at a pet shop!
Go to a dog show. Read books. Learn about the different breeds and their traits, grooming needs,ETC. Decide which breed is right for you.
Decide why you are breeding. Breeding is done to better the breed,NOT to make money. Decide what traits/characteristics/features you are breeding for.
Find a good breeder in your area. Communicate with them. Hopefully, they show their dogs in some sort of sport. Go to one of their events and see their dogs. When they have a litter of pups, let them know you'd like a breeding quality puppy.
Once you get your breeding quality animal, you'll want to wait until he/she is at least 18-24 months, before breeding. Have your dog OFA/CERF certified. Be sure and know the genetic problems associated with your breed. Find a good, suitable mate. The breeder themselves may have an un-related stud dog you can use.
After they have been bred, you'll want to have your female examined by your vet at about 1 month into the pregnancy. Be prepared to have an emergency C-section,which can cost $3,000+,should anything go wrong.

First you study and learn everything you can about your breed, it's history, it's standard etc. You learn everything you can about breeding, breeding ethics, animal husbandry, genetics, health, evaluating potential breeding dogs, training, raising puppies, behavior, anything else you can think of. You attend dog shows and working events for your breed. You join your national breed club, your local breed club and your local all-breed club and you network with and learn from experienced breeders.
Then maybe you purchase a quality dog from a reputable breeder, you show it to it's championship and have it tested for the common health problems in your breed.
Then you are ready to consider breeding your dog.

go to dog shows,,, lots of dog shows,,, pay close attention to the breed you are interested,,, start talking with the exhibitors there and the breeders... it will be very hard for you to convince a reputable breeder to sell you a breeding qualtiy dog.. until you have proven yourself,,, you really need to get a dog and start showing and get into the world of dogs for many years before you can even start to think about breeding.

go to www.akc.org and look up a kennel club local to you.
Join the club - go to their events & help out.
Shortly people will begin telling you all their stories - in a remarkably short peroid of time you KNOW the answers to all the breeding 101 questions
ALso club members will soon be willing to trust you with better pups than they will let go to John Q public.

If that's you'r question I'd say you'r far from being ready to actually "breed" dog's..
You need to find a good female worthy of breeding..
Let her grow up & get all testing done & then find an equally good stud dog & then the actual breeding takes place..
Do you'r homework first !!!!
Good Luck

honestly I wouldn't suggest breeding your dogs. my parents do and there are so many things that can go wrong. you can breed to closely, there could be a problem that you may not be able to handle, and trust me the list goes on and on and on. besides there are so many dogs in the shelters that need a home, and we don't need more dogs in there.
