Who or what is the antichrist?

The term antichrist is only found in the epistles of John (1 John 2:18,22; 4:3; 2 John 7). The antichrist is the one who opposes Christ and thus God. The antichrist is an eschatological (end times) person who will appear and deceive countless people near the time of Christ's return. The antichrist is associated with Satan and will be aided by demonic forces in his unholy movement against God and in his attempt to rule the nations of the world. Most scholars agree that the antichrist will claim to be God and will rule many nations in Europe and bring the world to the brink of destruction.
Paul does not use the term "antichrist." Instead, he uses the term "man of lawlessness" in 2 Thess. 2:3 to describe an evil person who will stand in great opposition to God and His people.

A discerning person can identify the Antichrist by the number of the beast, specifically, 616 according to Book of Revelation 13:18. The Hebrew numerology called Gematria appears to be the most likely approach for calculating the numeric value of a name, although other numerology schemes are used in attempts to confirm the identity of the Antichrist.

Anything that is against Christ. There are many. The book of Revelation speaks of seemingly one specific person, but not exactly who or when they'll be. But the antichrists are mentioned.

1 John 2:18
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

2 John 1:7
Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

The Greek preposition "anti" indicates primarily 2 things:
1) against 2) in the place off. Therefore antichrist is one who is against, and in the place of Christ. Christ is from a Greek word equivalent to the Hebrew word Messiah, or anointed one.
The term messiah, or christ, can have a general significance, but primarily it is a reference to a coming person who will rule over Israel on the throne of His forefather David, and exercise dominion over the entire earth. There are many other facets which time does not allow to examine. One worth noting, he will be both priest and king (Zechariah 6:12,13)
Christians believe this to be Jesus of Nazareth, who will return and establish His earthly Kingdom, His first appearance being primarily to address the issue of sin.
Antichrist, like Christ, is a specific individual who will appear on the world scene and exercise dominion over the entire earth. The source of his power however will be Satanic. His coming is clearly prophesied in numerous passages in the Old Testament (most notably Daniel) as well as the New Testament (mainly II Thessalonians chapter 2 and Revelation Chapter 13ff). The term can also have a more general meaning, and refer to any who stand in opposition to the message of the Christ (see I John 2:18,22; 4:3 and II John 7).
The Antichrist will be destroyed at Christ's Appearing, and be cast into the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 19:20)

The word Antichrist acctually only appears in the Bible 5 times and it isn't even in revelation. The word Antichirst is mentioned int first and second John. They were in letters he wrote. He is not refering to some Antichrist as we think. In revelation it mentions the beast whose make is the number 666. People are trying to say that it is a reference tot he Antichrist but there is no indication that this is true.

Who--> Nobody will know until the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel. This is when the anti-christ sits in the rebuilt Jewish Temple and declares himself to be God. This will be the start of the last 3 1/2 which will be great tribulation. Speculation has it that Javier Solana may be the anti christ. But the anti christ will be the poltical leader at the time called Satan's Wrath he will come out of the Europe and will be alonside the false prophet, the next pope.

The book of Revelation says "Then I saw another beast; it came up out of the earth, and had two horns like a lamb's, but spoke like a dragon. It wielded all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship this first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed. It worked great miracles, even making fire come down from heaven to earth, where people could see it. By the miracles it was allowed to perform in the presence of the beast it deluded the inhabitants of the earth, and persuaded them to erect an image in honour of the beast which had been wounded by the sword and yet lived. It was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that it could even speak and cause all who would not worship the image to be put to death. It caused everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to have a mark put on his right hand or his forehead, and no one was allowed to buy or sell unless he bore the beast's mark, either name or number. This calls for skill, let anyone who has intelligence work out the number of the beast, for the number represents a man's name, and the numerical value is six hundred and sixty-six." Rev. 13:11-18

This is The Anti-Christ.

First you should find a Bible, then go to the "last book" which is called Revelation, it tells basically the end of the world, as for the Anti-Christ, he is supposed to be the one who shall deceive many into believing that he is the true Christ.
It says in the Bible, 2 John 1:7 "Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the Anti-Christ."
(in the flesh meaning in person) I am not a Bible thumper, even though I have been called such a name many times, I just wanted to be of assistance.

"an" anti-christ is someone who pretends to be Christ to deceive others.

THE anti-christ of the Tribulation is a man who is killed then animated back to "life" but indwelled by satan. He will set up a one-world government and a one-world religion. He will also institute the Mark of the Beast. The 666 one always hears about. He will "rule" the world for a time then gather the armies of the earth together to try and make war against Christ and HIS followers. There will NOT be a war though because Christ will defeat them before they even get started. Read about him in the book of Revelation.
