Smash core and pull out, then submerge in ice-cold water for at least 5-10 minutes to make crisp. Nice in salads and sandwiches. Also works well with a scoop of cottage cheese on a bed of lettuce and perhaps a couple of sliced peaches! Enjoy!

I really preferr leaf lettuce but you can use any type.
2 bunches leaf lettuce, washed and torn into small pieces
1 small red onion, sliced thinly into rings then cut the rings in half
1 can garbanzo beans (chick peas) drained & rinsed
1# mozzeralla cheese, shreeded
prosciutto, ham, or any thinly sliced deli meat as desired.
Creamy Cesar Salad Dressing or your favorite
Mix all of the above ingredients together. Top with dressing as desired.

Buy green leaf lettuce and make lettuce wraps. I take thinly sliced, marinated grilled chicken with fresh veggies and wrap it up in the lettuce and eat it like a pita wrap. Yummy! There are so many ways to make them, you can make one for even the pickiest eater. My favorite is Asian style. I make the chicken in a ginger/soy based sauce and saute some snow peas, thinly sliced carrots and top it with shredded fresh red cabbage and water chestnuts. Very good and healthy.

This used to pass for salad in the"olden days": Shred a head of lettuce and dress it with a mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup. (You can add pickle relish for a little zip.) Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

Iceberg lettuce and applesauce, chilled tastes great in the summer. Weird, but it's good.

The bag is fine-but add extras like tomatoes, olives, peppers (using different colors to add color to the salad) and croutons.
PS-the spray salad dressing is nice too!
