Since 90% of you Christians didn't bother to read the part where I corrected myself BEFORE you posted saying I was wrong, I have reposted this.

Deut 25:11-12 Should a wife, in defense of her husband, accidentally grab the privates of the man her husband is fighting with, her hand must be cut off.

Discuss!

You mention adultary and cutting off of hands. Who is to do the cutting off, I ask? Please answer. You do not give the verse where Jesus is supposed to have said that. Are you dishonest. Did you forget to give a quote? Are you only repeating other people's lies? Are you creating lies yourself to try to shoot Christianity down because you cannot say anything that is true. If that verse exist in Matthew, do you expect everyone to read the whole book of Matthew to find the verse. You want to shoot Christianity down but the fact is, you have no ammunition. You have no facts. Are you listening to your own religion's experts opinions concerning Christianity without reading the Gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John yourself. If you are right, how am I to check? Christians read the Bible but you have not . That is why you make stupid statements and cannot quote the Bible. Jesus did mention cutting off hands. As far as I know, it is this verse in Mark (not Matthew) " If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off."-Mark 9:43. The purpose of this verse is to show the seriousness of sin. If we were to take the statement literally, then for example, a thief should cut off his own hand . Jesus is NOT telling other people to cut off the hand of a thief as may happen in other religions, but for the thief to cut of his own hand. I have read the Christian scriptures. Why don't you before you comment on it.

Ephesians 6:5 - "5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ."

if christians HONESTLY believed in the bible as much as they say they do, they should have slaves and:

1 Timothy 2:11-12 – "11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent."

QUIET WOMEN... and

Matthew 25:1 - "1 At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom."

HARAMS... and

Hosea 13:16 - "16 The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open."

THEY SHOULD KILL THE CHILDREN OF THOSE WHO OFFEND THEIR GOD.. and

Exodus 22:20 - "20 "Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the LORD must be destroyed."

THEY SHOULD KILL ALL BELIEVERS IN OTHER GODs... AND

1 Corinthians 16:22 - "22 If anyone does not love the Lord—a curse be on him."

BELIEVE IN CURSES... AND FINALLY

Matthew 5:29-30 - "29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."

THEY SHOULD ALL CHOP THEIR BODIES UP...

but alas, these passages are "figurative" or "cultural..." and no longer have any relevance... amazing... logically speaking we SHOULD NOT be able to know if ANY of the bible is serious since so MUCH of it is supposedly fictitious and colourful, and basically irrelevant.

There's a related text in Leviticus, too.

My guess is that one of the authors had a bad experience when the wife of a guy he was fighting with intervened in a way that distressed him, and insisted on the law being on the books.

Old Testament scholars have probably been scratching their heads ever since.

new international version
If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

That does not mean that it actually happened. The Hebrews had spent 400 years in slavery to a pagan people and had developed habits that were not pleasing to God. The regulations in the Pentatuech were to lay a foundation for a civil nation.

I guess I could also point out the differences of the Mosaic Covenant but who here would read it.

Sounds like a far more reasonable solution than hopping in bed with the guy to get him to back down. At least that is the main Hollywood approach.

Most would disagree. They will say they don't follow the old testament. Then they will say they follow the entire bible word for word. Kinda hypocritical huh?

It would be if Christians were under Jewish Law. They are not.
